I’ve known the Heffron family since I was little. They’re a large, kind, and beautiful family, each and every one of them. I’ve had the pleasure of photographing them multiple times in the past and was thrilled when Cory asked if I would capture his proposal to Lexie. Both came from close, loving families, it was important that both families be a part of this memorable milestone in their journey.
After finding a location big enough to accommodate everyone, they came together to plan the perfect surprise proposal. Walking along Theodore M Berry Way, in the Queen City, Cory and Lexie stopped to take in the view. At that point, Cory got down on one knee and pulled out a box. As soon as he stood up and put the ring on Lexie’s finger, cheers erupted from Yard House where the families had witnessed the whole event. Lexie was in complete shock, Cory was the happiest man on earth and their families came pouring out of the restaurant to exchange hugs.
Shortly after, Lexie asked if I would photograph their wedding. Knowing how important family is to them, I knew this wedding would be filled with so much love, support and heart-warming moments. While going over photo coverage, they expressed the importance of having a more lenient timeline in order to focus on celebrating with their special people. I loved that. From the start of the day, everyone was present. Lexie’s mom, sister and mother-in-law all shared a part in helping Lexie get ready. During the first look with Cory, the wedding party, parents and children lined the sidewalk, once again, cheering them on, as they were about to share their first look as husband and wife.
Their wedding party nearly included 30 people, half of which were siblings, and a lot of close friends. During the speeches, stories were shared that detailed their selfless characters, their journey, and prevailing love. Throughout the day, there were wet eyes, contagious laughter and the widest smiles. Cory and Lexie’s wedding day will always have a special place in my heart, as it inspires me to grow my own warm and loving atmosphere for my children and future children-in-law.
